To ensure efficient processing of your article images, an understanding of our image terms is essential. An image term describes the type of image that is required for a successful onboarding of your article. Below you’ll find the image terms, the type of assortment that this image is used for and a detailed description of what it means.

Our image requirements vary depending on what they will be used for on our website. Please adhere to them to ensure smooth and efficient processing of your article images and thus the processing of your articles themselves.

Packshot views

For packshot views it's important to remember that primary packshots must have a white background. We do accept packshot view with colours from the background colour range, but these aren't allowed as primary packshots, but as additional view only.

To make sure your model view is suitable as a catalogue view, use our background colour range for a compliant background colour. We accept model views with a white background, but they cannot be used as the front crop.

The table below shows the number of which types of images are needed for onboarding articles in the Shoes assortment. Please note that simply duplicating images to meet the requirements is not allowed and will lead to an article rejection.

Packshots are critical for providing a clean and comprehensive view of each shoe. Proper alignment and background settings are necessary to maintain a professional presentation and highlight the product’s key features. Please ensure that you follow the below guidelines:

• For the Primary packshot:

  • Centre the article vertically and position it in the lower third of the image grid. Please find supporting guidance in this section of the Zalando image guidelines.

  • Always show the left shoe pointing to the left

• For side, back, and top views:

  • These views are also compliant when displaying only one shoe

• For sole, detail, and back views:

  • Only allowed as additional views, as the article must be fully recognizable

  • These views do not count towards the required number of images

• Shoe laces should be tied as if the shoe is being worn

• Avoid overexposure

• Remove any dust

While not mandatory, model views enhance the depiction of how shoes fit and look in real life. They should focus exclusively on the shoe and cropping should be done thoughtfully to showcase the shoe's design, while capturing all aspects of its appearance.

• Focus on presenting the whole shoe without cropping.

• For mid-calf or higher shoes, crop below the knee; for Above-knee boots, crop mid-thigh.

• Show different aspects of the shoe, e.g. a detailed view of the zip or specific features such as brand logos

• A model view is not mandatory

Use these as a clear reference to ensure compliance with Zalando's shoe article standards.
