Learn about the Market setup stage of your onboarding journey, including the information you’ll need to supply to complete it.

How do I complete Market Setup?

Market Setup is the onboarding stage where you’ll provide Zalando with details such as bank account, billing, VAT information etc. for the market you’re setting up.

Once you’ve completed each individual section, click Save & Continue and a green tick will be displayed, confirming you’ve successfully submitted your information.

What information will I need?

You’ll need to provide some additional information to what you supplied for Account Setup.

In the Country profile, you can refer to the list on the left side of the page for the key points that are covered in this section.

Depending on your circumstance (outlined below), there are either one or two sections to complete here:

  • Business details

  • Compliance details

For further help, you can refer to the information section on the right hand side of the Company profile page.

Important note: Any sections that become automatically available for you to complete, must be fully filled out and approved (where required) before it is possible to start selling on Zalando.

If you do not have all of the information required for your Compliance details, you can always complete your Business details. We strongly recommend that you start finding any missing information right away so as not to delay your go-live date. Once you have the missing information, you can add it to your profile.

Contact details for your market

Here you’ll need to set up your contacts for that specific market:

  • Customer Service: This person will deal with customer requests.

  • Customer Escalation: The person who will deal with customer service cases that have been escalated. This must be an individual email address. Not a group address.

  • Partner Program Invoices Contact: The person who handles all regular invoicing.

You can add more than one person for each category. Just click the Add another contact button under each type. You can add a maximum of three contacts for each. To remove contacts, just click the Delete button.

Carrier details for your market for own fulfilment

You should provide the details of the outbound carrier that you use to ship your orders for a specific country from the list of available options. You should also provide the delivery method that you use. Depending on your contract, you can choose one or more from the following three options: Home, Packstation and Pick-up point.

Submit for review

Each section should now be complete and confirmed by a green tick, so you can send Business details for approval by clicking Submit for review. Your information will be assessed and you will receive an email confirming whether this stage has been approved or not, and advised of any next steps.

Compliance details

Important

Note: If you do not see this section in the Compliance Details, this means that you only sell in one or more EU countries and have opted to share One Stop Shop (OSS) details with Zalando in the Country Profile section.

If your company is registered for the One Stop Shop (OSS) tax scheme in the EU, you can provide the single OSS VAT ID and certificate to cover all your EU VAT requirements. If you are not registered for OSS, you must provide VAT details for each country you intend to sell articles in through Zalando. You can find out how to share OSS details with Zalando here

For each market you wish to sell in, you will need to submit the valid VAT ID and the corresponding VAT certificate.

A VAT certificate is a document that confirms that your business is officially registered for VAT purposes. A VAT certificate must include the name of the legal entity which is selling towards the end customer, address and your VAT ID in the country of VAT registration. In general, you should submit a VAT certificate which is not older than six months.

Submit Compliance details for review

Once you submit all of the necessary information you will now see a green check mark on the left side of the Country profile page. All you need to do now is to send your Compliance details data for review by clicking the Send for review button in the Zalando approval section. Your information will be assessed and you’ll receive an email confirming your status and any next steps.
