Updated December 8, 2025

This article provides an overview of the key timelines for managing your assortment on Zalando. Use this guide to plan ahead for season switches, retagging submissions and assortment quality measures.

Upcoming season switch

The next season switch is scheduled for February/March 2026. This switch will establish Spring/Summer 2026 (SS26) as the main season and move Autumn/Winter 2025 (AW25) and Spring/Summer 2025 (SS25) articles to the sale section. To remain online, these old season articles will require a minimum discount of 10% or 15% (depending on the market). Exact dates and market-specific rates will be announced here closer to the time.

Season switch dates and discount rates per market

Here are the season switch dates per market and the minimum discount rate required for old season articles.

We will share the 2026 season switch dates and minimum discount rate for old season articles right here in January 2026.

Take full advantage of the season switch by adapting your prices to the minimum discount before the official switch date listed on the above table per market.

What’s the Assortment relevance review?

The Assortment relevance process evaluates your articles using signals from observed customer behaviour. When signals show an article isn't relevant enough compared to similar ones in the same market, we take action.

If performance is low in a specific market, low visibility might be applied locally.

If performance is very low, we'll deactivate the article globally across all markets to ensure customers' shopping experience.

Please find more information about our assortment relevance process below:

What’s retagging?

Retagging is the process of updating an article’s designated season (e.g. a SS25 article can be retagged to SS26). This lets you market and sell your articles for an additional season at full price.

Please find more information about our season retagging process here.

New: More retagging flexibility

We have removed two previous limitations from the article classification process. This change gives you greater flexibility in managing your seasonal articles. Specifically, we removed the rule requiring older seasonal articles to be converted to Year-Round Basic (YRB) and the rule limiting how often an article can be retagged (twice).

You can now retag seasonal carryover articles from one season to the next without limitations, provided they meet our quality requirements.

What’s the Basics review?

Basics (or Year-Round Basic (YRB)) articles undergo a monthly review process where they must meet specific criteria. This review ensures that these articles have consistent stock replenishment to meet ongoing customer needs. If an article doesn't meet the requirements, it is converted into a seasonal article.

The Basics review requirements

To remain classified as a basic article, an article must meet all of the following:

  • A Size Availability Rate (SAR) of over 85%.

  • gross merchandise volume (GMV) of over €1,000.

  • Fulfil the current image requirements.

The review checks if the article meets either the SAR or GMV threshold, as well as our image requirements. If these requirements are not met, the article will be converted to a seasonal article.
