Good to know

From 6 November 2025, you'll be able to upload videos to your product detail pages to enhance your listings. This is available via your Merchant Product Submission API or Article XML Feeds integration. Find out more about how to add videos to your articles.


Videos are a great way to showcase your articles and help customers make a purchase. By following these guidelines, you'll ensure your videos meet our quality standards and provide a great experience for our customers.

We have three main requirements for your videos: visual, ethical, and technical. These guidelines apply to all video content. To ensure a smooth process, you must follow these rules when you submit your videos.

Visual requirements

What to avoid 

  • Text and sound: Written text and sound are not permitted.

Important

Videos featuring kids are not permitted.

  • Don't use sheer textiles, lingerie, or swimwear that would show the nipples or genitals of the model. 

  • Avoid coloured backgrounds (including floors) and props.

Ethical guidelines

​​Please note that the guidance provided here is to support displaying and purchasing products and brands to sell on Zalando. While we recognise that style and clothing (i.e. our articles) can change its meaning over time - particularly with changing social movements and global context - Zalando will continue to prohibit the sale of any product or brand which has any association with any of the below outlined dimensions.

A product video may not contain, represent, condone, or promote offensive, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate products and content. This includes, but isn't limited to:

  • Discriminatory or hateful activities

  • Political extremism

  • Adult content, including graphic depictions of sexual activity or nudity

  • Glorification of violence and use of weapons

  • Defamation of religion

  • Perpetuation of stereotypes and cultural appropriation

  • Objectification and exploitation

  • Self-injury and harmful behaviour

  • Substance use

  • Inappropriate language

Technical requirements

To ensure your videos upload smoothly, you must meet these technical specifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • One video file

  • Include one preview image (thumbnail) with each video

  • Portrait format

  • Aspect ratio (height / width): 1.44 to 1.8

  • Video position: centered

Good to know

The duration of the video should ideally be 15 seconds, but edits can sit between 12-18 seconds.

Video file specifications

  • Format: .MP4

  • Codec: H.264

  • Minimum dimensions (width):  762 px

  • Minimum dimensions (height): 1100 px

  • Aspect ratio (height / width): 1.44 to 1.8

  • Frame rate: min. 24 fps

  • Minimum bitrate: 2000 Kb/s

  • Size: max. 250 MB

Preview image file specifications

  • Minimum dimensions (width):  762 px

  • Minimum dimensions (height): 1100 px

  • File type: .jpeg or .png

Types of video formats and their specifications

PDP format video

The product detail page (PDP) video format is shot in a studio with neutral, consistent lighting and a clean background. It follows the visual requirements of our standard PDP content to ensure clear product presentation.

Requirements:

  • Thumbnail and video background and lighting: The background must be plain (recommended colours: white, grey, or beige. Lighting must be neutral; please avoid any non-neutral or coloured lighting.

  • Text is not allowed.

  • Audio is not allowed.

EPDP format video

The Elevated PDP (EPDP) video format features enhanced studio shots and some outdoor location footage. The goal is to elevate the brand and product experience by using dynamic settings, refined lighting, and more expressive storytelling, while still following general PDP standards for product clarity. This format is for certified partners only1.

Requirements:

  • Must align with ePDP Creative Concept guidelines (available upon certification)

  • Text is not allowed.

  • Audio is not allowed.

Naming convention:

If you are uploading your videos via Partner Care, you must adhere to the following naming conventions:

  • Video file: Config-SKU/EAN/QL_high_EPDP_SortOrder.mp4

  • Image file: Config-SKU/EAN/QL_high_EPDP_SortOrder.jpg

3D video format

The 3D video format is fully digitally rendered and features product-only visuals without models. These videos highlight key design features, textures, and movement in a controlled virtual environment.

Requirements:

  • Text and audio are not allowed.

Brand video

Brand videos are a form of visual storytelling designed to build an emotional connection with the audience and increase brand awareness.

Requirements:

  • Text is not allowed.

  • Audio is not allowed.
